Better Practice ChecklistsThis is a featured page

This section presents several checklists describing better practices underlying the programs presented in the webinars and case studies. These checklists are based on the research and authoritative guidelines found in an international wiki on School-based Substance Abuse Prevention published by the International School Health Network.

Visitors to this web site and participants in these webinars are invited to comment on and edit the Checklists listed below:

  • Instructional programs with a youth development focus. These programs are aimed at developing broadly-based skills, assets and resilience within students. These programs are often delivered in elementary and junior high school.
  • Instructional programs with a universal (all students), primary prevention focus. These include coverage of all forms of substance abuse with the goal to delay experimentation with legal drugs such as alcohol to to prevent the use of illegal drugs. These are usually delivered in elementary and junior high school.
