As part of the preparation of the Third Edition of Health Promotion in Canada, Marthe Deschenes (Institut national de santé publique du Québec) and Douglas McCall (Canadian Association for School Health) are preparing a brief description of current practice in school health promotion in Canada.
The authors felt that this was an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the progress being made in developing and applying knowledge in comprehensive, ecological approaches to working with and through schools to promote health, safety, equity and social development.
Consequently, the authors are calling for suggestions of research or innovative practices that are leading or may lead to effective programs and positive change in school health promotion in Canada. A brief paragraph describing the research or innovation and providing contact information or links to related published articles, reviews or resources would be sufficient.
Simply send an email with your suggestion to:
dmccall@cash-aces.ca by July 21st, 2010.
The authors will review the suggestions as part of their preparation of the chapter on school health promotion. As well, the suggestions made by all contributors will be noted in the
researchers section of the web site of the Canadian School Health community. (This section includes the reviews, papers and presentations previously posted in the web site of the School Health research Network.).
FYI, this section also includes a
listing of Canadian SH research articles published in several journals over the past year.
