One of the best features of the Canadian School Health Knowledge Network are the Communities of Practice (CoP) that address broad issues or aspects of school health promotion. There are currently several CoP's in operation and each year they hold regular conference calls/web meetings, select topics and speakers for webinars, organize an annual symposium at the annual School Health Conference and undertake other project activities. The current active Communities of Practice are:

In the past, each CoP had its own wiki-based web site that contained news about CoP activities and a toolbox of research, reports and resources. In 2009-10, we will be consolidating all of these smaller web sites into this one for the entire Canadian school health community. This helps us to reduce costs but also allows for more sharing of information across the CoP's.

CoP members should ensure that they are familiar with the location of their respective CoP pages on this web site. In particular, we ask that you take note of where the CoP notices and copies of meeting notes etc are filed on this web site. Indeed, we suggest that CoP members sign up with this web platform (www.wetpaint.com), then join this wiki, create a profile and then use the settings within their profile to control the amount of email that is sent to them from within this wiki by "watching" selected pages .

For example, CoP members would likely want to "watch" their CoP news page and also "watch" the monthly School Health report. An email wilol be sent to them only when those pages are changed.
